In 戏曲 (Chinese opera), the 锣鼓点 cues every entrance, action, and emotional shift on stage — actors time their movements to specific named patterns (急急风, 四击头, 慢长锤 etc.). Different patterns signal fight, court audience, contemplation, lament.
