Springboard diver who won the 3-metre event and, with 吴敏霞, the synchronised event at both the 2004 and 2008 Olympics. Her 2012 marriage to 霍启刚, grandson of Hong Kong tycoon 霍英东, drew wide coverage.
Early in her career she and fellow diver 田亮 were paired as 亮晶晶 'sparkling', a real word made of 亮 from his name and 晶晶 from hers. Hong Kong media often hinted at a romance; neither of them confirmed it.

Her golds came after two silvers at Sydney 2000: in the 3 m springboard she could not beat her senior teammate 伏明霞, and in the new synchronized event the two of them lost to a Russian pair.
