轸 is not used independently in modern Chinese. Its classical senses are the rear cross-rail of a chariot box (hence 'a chariot'), and
轸宿, one of the twenty-eight lunar mansions; a derived sense is grief, as in
轸念 ('to grieve over'). The cart radical
车 gives the chariot meaning.
