Tips

usage
跳级 = (jump over) + (grade/year). It applies specifically to compulsory and undergraduate schooling. The looser version 跳班 means the same. For 'skip an entire stage' (e.g. straight from middle school to university) Chinese uses 越级 (yuèjí). The opposite - repeating a year - is 留级 (liújí).
