Tips

history
Written in 1082 while 苏轼 was in exile at Huangzhou. The cliff he visited was probably not the battlefield of 208, where 周瑜 burned the fleet of 曹操, and the poem itself hedges with 人道是 'people say'. It opens 大江东去 'the great river flows east' and is the source of 江山如画 and 灰飞烟灭.
