薛定锷 is the Chinese transliteration of Erwin Schrödinger (1887-1961), the Austrian physicist who founded wave mechanics and gave us
薛定锷的猫 (Schrödinger's cat) and
薛定锷方程 (Schrödinger equation). The more common modern spelling is
薛定谔 with
谔 - the
锷 variant uses the 'sword edge' character but is encountered in older or science-fiction texts.
