From the closing couplet of 毛泽东's 1961 poem 七律·答友人: 我欲因之梦寥廓，芙蓉国里尽朝晖。芙蓉国 ('Lotus Land') is an elegant name for Hunan - the line 秋风万里芙蓉国 from the Five Dynasties poet 谭用之 reflects how Hunan abounds in lotus. The poem answers a Hunan friend and voices the poet's hopes for his homeland.
