羽田 is the kanji-borrowing of Japanese 'Haneda' (はねだ): 羽 (Hane, 'wing/feather') + 田 (Da, 'field') — 'wing field'. Tokyo's two big airports are 羽田 (Haneda, domestic + some international, very close to the city) and 成田 (Narita, the main international hub). 羽田 is also a Japanese family name; the most prominent bearer was Hata Tsutomu (羽田孜), Japan's prime minister in 1994.
