Chinese car classes run 微型 'mini', 小型 'small', 紧凑型 'compact', 中型 'mid-size' and 大型 'large'. Outside cars, 紧凑 just means 'compact, closely packed', and 紧凑型 also describes cameras, flats and other things made small.
