Bound to 玳瑁 — the hawksbill sea turtle and the prized tortoiseshell from its shell. (In ancient ritual texts the same character also names a jade tablet, but that sense is archaic.)
Left side is the jade radical, written like 王 but standing for 玉. It comes from the character's old sense of a ceremonial jade tablet; the polished tortoiseshell meaning kept the same radical.
