玩儿 (with the 儿 erhua suffix) is the Beijing/northern pronunciation. In southern China and in writing, 玩 (wán) without the 儿 is more common. Both are correct.
usage
玩儿 is used for leisure activities broadly: 玩儿游戏 (play games), 出去玩儿 (go out for fun). It's much broader than English 'play.'
