Fan Zhongyan's essay 《岳阳楼记》, about the tower on its shore, paints the lake in rain and in sunshine and ends with the ideal of the official who worries before the world worries and rejoices only after it rejoices. The island of 君山 in the lake grows the yellow tea 君山银针.
