Short for 标准普尔 (Standard & Poor's). With 穆迪 (Moody's) and 惠誉 (Fitch) it makes up the big three rating agencies. In market reports it usually means the index: 标普 500 is the S&P 500, quoted next to the Dow (道指) and the Nasdaq (纳指).
