斗气 means quarrelling driven by 气 (wounded pride / a bad mood) rather than substance - petty, ego-driven, often between siblings, couples or coworkers. Compare 赌气 (dǔqì, 'to act out of pique') which emphasizes the sulky one-sided behavior.
