From Mao Zedong's 《七律·到韶山》 (1959), written on his return to his home village after 32 years: 为有牺牲多壮志，敢教日月换新天。 Canonical Maoist couplet — 'because people sacrificed, we dared remake the world.' The original uses 教 (jiào), but 叫 is the commonly-circulated modern variant.

usage

Original text writes 教 (jiào); 叫 is a common colloquial substitution. Either is acceptable. Usually quoted with 为有牺牲多壮志.
