希哲

希哲 is best known as the 字 (courtesy name) of 祝允明 (Zhu Yunming, 1461-1527), one of the "Four Talents of Wuzhong" (吴中四才子) of the Ming dynasty alongside Tang Yin and Wen Zhengming. He was famous for his cursive (草书) calligraphy and earned the nickname 祝枝山. The name 希哲 means "aspiring to wisdom" - 希 (to hope for) + 哲 (the wise/sage).

希哲 is composed entirely of ambition: 希 = to hope/aspire, 哲 = sage/philosopher. A literal "would-be sage" - exactly the kind of name a Confucian-educated parent gave a son.
