金钱龟 (golden coin turtle) is the three-striped box turtle, revered in southern Chinese folk culture for wealth-attracting symbolism and traditionally thought to cure cancer. Demand has pushed the species to critical endangerment. Wild populations have collapsed and prices for breeding stock ran into the tens of thousands of yuan per animal.
