In 1225 the new Song emperor Lizong, who had held a title tied to this prefecture before he took the throne, raised it to Baoqing Prefecture (
宝庆府) after his own reign title
宝庆 (1225–1227). The name lasted through the Yuan, Ming and Qing until the early 20th century, when the city became
邵阳.
