Two senses to watch out for: (1) lower-case
女娃 - a regional / colloquial word for 'girl,' common in northwestern dialects; (2) capitalized
女娃 - the
山海经 (Classic of Mountains and Seas) tells of the Fiery Emperor's young daughter who drowned in the East Sea, then was reborn as the bird
精卫 (Jīngwèi) and tirelessly carried pebbles to fill the sea. Don't confuse with
女娲 (Nǚwā), the creator goddess - different second character.
