Literary/old-fashioned; common in Ming-Qing fiction (《红楼梦》, 《水浒传》) but rare in modern speech. The 'beg' sense is far more frequent than the 'involve / drag in' sense, where 央 acts as a phonetic loan for 殃 'misfortune'.
