Lantau is nearly twice the area of Hong Kong Island but far less developed. Home to Hong Kong International Airport (赤鱲角), Disneyland, the Tian Tan Big Buddha (天坛大佛), and the Po Lin Monastery (宝莲禅寺). 屿 (yǔ) means 'small island' — same character as in 鼓浪屿 (Gulangyu, Xiamen).
