From Wu Zimu's 《梦梁录》 (Southern Song): temple inscriptions prayed "国泰民安" — literally asking Heaven for a stable realm and contented populace. Still used today in Spring Festival couplets.

Common on New Year greetings, temple plaques, and political speeches. Often paired with 风调雨顺 (favorable weather).
