One of the four categories of China's
垃圾分类 'waste sorting', made compulsory in Shanghai in 2019 and then in other big cities:
可回收物,
有害垃圾 'hazardous waste',
厨余垃圾 'kitchen waste' and
其他垃圾 'other waste'. Shanghai calls the last two
湿垃圾 'wet waste' and
干垃圾 'dry waste'. Recyclables go in the blue bin.
