出访 is a formal/diplomatic term. For casual travel, use 去旅游 (qù lǚyóu) or 出去玩 (chūqù wán). You'll mainly see 出访 in news reports.
usage
The opposite is 来访 (láifǎng) — to come for a visit (said from the host's perspective).
