借过 is the 'squeezing through a crowd' excuse-me — mandatory vocabulary for the Beijing subway at rush hour. Literally 'borrow (to) pass'. If someone doesn't hear you, escalate to
让一下 (ràng yīxià, 'move aside'). Don't use
对不起 (sorry) here; it's functionally different.
