三桥

三桥 is most commonly 西安三桥 — a subdistrict in western Xi'an named for three Han-dynasty bridges that crossed the 渭河 near the capital Chang'an. Other 三桥 exist as village names across China. In 《长安十二时辰》 and other Tang-set historical fiction, 三桥 is sometimes invoked as the western gateway to the imperial city.

As a place name (capitalized Sānqiáo) it usually needs clarifying context — 西安三桥, 南京三桥, etc. As a literal 'three bridges' (sān qiáo) the two characters are read as a numeral plus noun.
