Tips
history
From 《长歌行》 (a Han-era yuefu folk song): 阳春布德泽,万物生光辉 — 'bright spring spreads its bounty; the ten thousand things shine with radiance.' The same poem ends with the proverb 少壮不努力,老大徒伤悲.
usage
万物 = 'the ten thousand things,' a classical way of saying 'all things in the world.' Usually quoted with the preceding 阳春布德泽 (yáng chūn bù dézé) for the full couplet.
