蜚 here is the borrowed/literary form of 飞 ('to fly'); 蜚声 literally means 'reputation flies forth.' Highly complimentary, used for artists, scientists, athletes, dishes, and brands that have achieved global recognition.
mistakes
蜚 also reads fěi when meaning 'cockroach' (as in 蜚蠊). In 蜚声 it's always fēi (pronounced like 飞). Two readings, very different meanings.
