Tips

history
From Du Fu's Tang-dynasty poem 《春夜喜雨》 (Welcoming the Spring Night Rain). Full closing couplet: 晓看红湿处, 花重锦官城 - 'at dawn I look where the red is wet; blossoms weigh heavy over the Brocade City.' Written around 761 in Chengdu, where Du Fu was living in his famed thatched cottage (杜甫草堂).
usage
锦官城 is a classical alias for Chengdu - named after the Han-dynasty official who supervised its brocade trade (锦官). here is zhòng (heavy), not chóng (again). The line evokes rain-soaked petals bowing under their own weight at daybreak.
