般 'sort, kind' — Xinhua glosses it as
众多貌 ('appearing numerous'). Mostly found in older texts and set phrases like
般般皆能 ('capable in every respect') or
般般精通 ('skilled in every kind'). In modern speech
各种各样 (gèzhǒng gèyàng) is the everyday equivalent.
