Two main washing-machine categories:
滚筒洗衣机 (front-loader, horizontal drum that tumbles clothes — gentler, more water-efficient, takes longer) and
波轮洗衣机 (top-loader with an agitator wheel — faster, cheaper, harder on fabric).
滚筒 is now standard in newer apartments.
