Sanskrit 'pāramitā' transliterated by sound (
波罗密) and translated as
到彼岸 'reach the other shore' — i.e. the perfections that ferry one across saṃsāra to nirvana. The six classical pāramitās are
布施 (giving),
持戒 (discipline),
忍辱 (patience),
精进 (effort),
禅定 (meditation),
般若 (wisdom). Often written
波罗蜜 — same word.
