Jiangsu (short name
苏 Sū) takes its name from the first characters of its two major cities, Jiāngníng (Nanjing) and Sūzhōu. It is one of the wealthiest provinces in China and the heart of Jiangnan culture, famous for classical gardens (Suzhou), silk, and Kunqu opera. Separated from Shanghai only administratively, the Suzhou–Wuxi–Changzhou corridor forms one of China's densest economic belts.
