Tips

culture
He is known for one poem, written on the wall of an inn in 临安, today's Hangzhou. It ends 暖风熏得游人醉,直把杭州作汴州, 'the warm breeze makes the pleasure-seekers drunk, till they take Hangzhou for Bianzhou': the court partied in its temporary capital as if 汴州, today's 开封, had never been lost to the Jin.
usage
The poem's first line, 山外青山楼外楼, 'green hills beyond green hills, towers beyond towers', is often borrowed to say that there is always someone better.
