Famously the title of Chapter 16 of 《水浒传》 (Shuǐhǔ Zhuàn — Water Margin): 《智取生辰纲》 ('Outwitting the Birthday Convoy'), where Wu Yong and the Liangshan heroes drug a convoy of birthday gifts with knockout wine and steal them — a classic of Chinese strategic literature.

Often paired in contrast with 强攻 (qiánggōng — frontal assault) or 力取 (lìqǔ — to take by force). The compound 智 (zhì — wisdom) + 取 (qǔ — to take) makes the strategy explicit.
