收受

Almost always carries a negative or formal-legal connotation in modern usage — collocates strongly with 贿赂 (huìlù) 'bribe', 财物 (cáiwù) 'money and goods', 礼品 (lǐpǐn) 'gifts'. The everyday verb 'to receive' is 收到 (shōudào). 收受 belongs to legal documents, internal regulations, and news reports about corruption.

mistakes

Don't use 收受 for ordinary mail, packages, or messages — say 收到 / 接收 instead. 收受 implies that the act of accepting is itself problematic or being scrutinized.
