Tips

usage
提味 is adding a little of something to lift a dish's taste, not to give it its main flavour. Cooks contrast it with 上色 "to give colour": light soy sauce, 生抽, is for flavour and dark soy sauce, 老抽, for colour. Seasoning in general is 调味.
