Heroic / formal register. Almost always used about resisting something serious — invasion, disease, disaster. Common collocations:
抗击侵略 (resist invasion),
抗击疫情 (fight the epidemic — heavily used during COVID-19),
抗击洪水 (battle the flood). Don't use for everyday opposition; use
反对 or
抵抗 instead.
