Use
尖塔 for any tall pointy tower — Gothic church spire (
哥特式尖塔), mosque minaret (
清真寺尖塔), or castle turret. For a multi-story Buddhist or Chinese-style tower with curved eaves, the word is
塔 (tǎ) or
宝塔 (bǎotǎ) — those aren't usually 'pointy' enough to be
尖塔.
