usage
寄养 works for both children (foster care) and pets (boarding). For pets specifically, 宠物寄养 (chǒngwù jìyǎng, pet boarding) is common. For formal foster care of children, 寄养家庭 (jìyǎng jiātíng, foster family) is the standard term.
