The world's largest EV battery manufacturer, founded in Ningde in 2011 - its English ticker name CATL comes from 'Contemporary Amperex Technology Limited' but the Chinese name literally means 'Ningde Era'. The company put the previously obscure city on the global supply-chain map.

Deepwater bay south of Ningde city, one of China's finest natural harbors and now a major naval anchorage. Famous historically for being praised by Sun Yat-sen as a future world-class port.
