Originally called 金华戏 and renamed 婺剧 in 1949 after the old 婺州 prefecture. Unusually, it carries six distinct vocal traditions on one stage — 高腔, 昆腔, 乱弹, 徽戏, 滩簧 and 时调 — making it a living archive of Zhejiang folk theatre.
