Originally called 金华戏 and renamed 婺剧 in 1949 after the old 婺州 prefecture. Unusually, it carries six distinct vocal traditions on one stage, 高腔, 昆腔, 乱弹, 徽戏, 滩簧 and 时调, making it a living archive of Zhejiang folk theatre.
