Tips

history
Bartolomeu Dias rounded it in 1488 and, by the usual account, called it the Cape of Storms; King John II of Portugal renamed it the Cape of Good Hope for the sea route to India it promised. 好 "good" and 望 "hope" translate the name, and 角 is "cape".
mistakes
It is often called the southern tip of Africa, but the continent's southernmost point is Cape Agulhas (厄加勒斯角), about 150 km to the east-southeast.
