Common abbreviation for 台湾民主自治同盟 (Taiwan Democratic Self-Government League / Taimeng), founded in 1947 in Hong Kong by Taiwanese who opposed the KMT. It is one of the eight legally recognised minor parties under the CCP's united front. In cross-strait reporting 台联 can also abbreviate 中华全国台湾同胞联谊会 (All-China Federation of Taiwan Compatriots).
