China's national anthem 《义勇军进行曲》 (Yìyǒngjūn Jìnxíngqǔ, March of the Volunteers) began as a 军歌 — written in 1935 for the film 《风云儿女》 (Fēngyún Érnǚ, Children of Troubled Times). It was adopted as the official anthem in 1949.
