作成 in this 'help bring about / facilitate' sense is now mostly literary or dialectal - older novels and operas use it. Modern Chinese normally says 成全 for the same idea.

mistakes

Don't confuse with the Japanese loan reading 作成 (sakusei, 'to draft/create a document'). In Mandarin 作成 is NOT used for 'to draft a document' - that's 制作 or 拟定.
