Linchuan 临川 is now a district of Fuzhou (抚州), Jiangxi, but historically it is a household name in Chinese literature: birthplace of Ming playwright 汤显祖 (Tang Xianzu, 1550-1616), Northern Song reformer 王安石 (Wang Anshi), and lyricist 晏殊 (Yan Shu).
