Tips

history
From Zhang Jiuling's 《送韦城李少府》 (Tang dynasty): 相知无远近万里尚为邻 - 'True friends know no distance; ten thousand li, still neighbors.' The couplet echoes Wang Bo's better-known 海内存知己天涯若比邻, and both became standard farewell verses.
usage
Always paired with its opening half 相知无远近 (true friends know no distance). Quoted when parting from a close friend or in letters across great distance.
