Tips

history
Led by 刘濞, King of Wu, the kings rose against the minister 晁错's plan to shrink their fiefs, under the slogan 诛晁错,清君侧 'execute Chao Cuo and clear the ruler's side'. Emperor Jing had Chao Cuo executed, but the revolt went on until the general 周亚夫 crushed it. Afterwards the vassal kingdoms lost most of their power.
usage
A popular story ties the 七 of 乱七八糟 'a total mess' to this rebellion and its 八 to the 八王之乱 War of the Eight Princes. It is a folk explanation, not a proven origin.
