鯈 is the traditional graph for a small whitebait-like fish, also written 鲦 in simplified Chinese. It is best known from the 《庄子》 debate at the Hao river about whether fish are happy. The fish radical 鱼 marks the species; 攸 supplies the sound.

Archaic and literary. Modern texts write the fish as 鲦; the form 鯈 survives only in classical quotation and old dictionaries, where a secondary reading 鯈 is also recorded.
